Dr. N. James Strull honored as ULSD Alumni Fellow

During the University of Louisville’s fall homecoming week, the School of Dentistry honored Dr. N. James (Jim) Strull as our 2023 Alumni Fellow. 

Dr. Strull received his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Louisville in 1962. He completed his residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in 1965, also at the University of Louisville. He established Strull Oral Surgery in Louisville in 1965 and opened another office in Seymour, Indiana, in 1999. He operates this practice with his son, Gregory Strull, who is also a University of Louisville School of Dentistry alumnus. 

Dr. Strull has served as president of the Kentucky Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Louisville Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Southeastern Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, and Alpha Omega Dental Society. Dr. Strull has also been a faculty member at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, where he was named Teacher of the Year in 1994. Dr. Strull attends oral and maxillofacial surgery teaching rounds weekly to discuss cases with dental residents and interact with them. He established the Strull Family Oral Surgery Endowment to benefit oral and maxillofacial surgery residents with their training and education. 

Jim and his wife, Nancy, live in Louisville and have been married 62 years. They have three children.
