Dean of the University of Louisville School of Dentistry: Margaret Hill, DMD
A graduate of UofL's DMD program and general practice residency, Dr. Hill was named dean of the School of Dentistry effective July 1, 2025, after serving as interim dean for more than two years.
ULSD Departments
Academic departments at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry:
Department of Comprehensive Dentistry (CMPD)
In settings ranging from classrooms to clinics, CMPD faculty help students and residents develop into competent beginning general dentists serving both children and adults
Department of Diagnosis & Oral Health (DXOH)
With expertise in a wide range of oral health disciplines, DXOH faculty members instruct students and residents across programs including dental hygiene, DMD and advanced education
Department of Oral Immunology & Infectious Diseases (OIID)
Researchers and others in this department perform groundbreaking research related to the molecular and cellular basis of the interactions between oral bacteria and their host
Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS)
Focusing on hands-on experiences and evidence-based decision-making, OMS faculty train dental students and residents in the principles and practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery
Department of Rehabilitative & Reconstructive Dentistry (RARD)
Primarily focused on orthodontics and prosthodontics, RARD faculty members guide students and residents in providing evidence-based care using modern techniques and advanced technology

Provides service, support and guidance to the University and ULSD community on all points of the educational continuum
Admissions & Student Affairs
Responsible for DMD and dental hygiene student recruitment and various services that support the learner experience
Clinical Affairs
Responsible for daily clinical operations and for ensuring students receive adequate clinical experiences
Alumni Affairs & Continuing Education
Develops and coordinates alumni engagement and learning opportunities for the dental professional community
Development
Engages alumni, faculty and staff in the mission and future of the School of Dentistry through their giving
Research & Innovation
Coordinates research activities throughout the school and sponsors programs that facilitate student participation in research
