October 25, 2024
The University of Louisville celebrates faculty and staff members who contribute to excellence in Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity. Given the productive focus on research and scholarship within the OIID department, it is no surprise that several OIID team members were included among this year's honorees at the University-wide event.
Faculty members Gill Diamond and Fata Moradali were recognized for research excellence. Joan Scott was awarded Research Administrator of the Year in recognition of the important research support that she has provided to the UofL School of Dentistry and OIID department for more than 20 years. The Center of Biomedical Research Excellence in Functional Microbiomics, Inflammation and Pathogenicity, headed by OIID department Chair Richard Lamont, won Center of the Year for its recent $12 million renewal grant for study of microbiome and disease.
Faculty, staff, students, and postdoctoral fellows from the UofL School of Dentistry Department of Oral Immunology & Infectious Diseases are involved in cross-disciplinary projects to dissect the molecular and cellular basis of the interactions between oral bacteria and their host.
