A new R01 to study oral bacteria and virus susceptibility
October 28, 2024
Congratulations to current and former OIID researchers for obtaining funding to support their research. Departmental Chair Richard Lamont and former OIID Associate Professor Juhi Bagaitkar (currently at Nationwide Children's Hospital) were recently awarded an R01 grant from NIDCR. The grant will fund their study of the impact of oral bacteria on susceptibility to viral infection.
Faculty, staff, students, and postdoctoral fellows from the UofL School of Dentistry Department of Oral Immunology & Infectious Diseases are involved in cross-disciplinary projects to dissect the molecular and cellular basis of the interactions between oral bacteria and their host.
